Photos: Confirmed cougar sightings in Michigan
Cougars, also known as mountain lions or pumas, were native to Michigan but were wiped out in the early 1900s.
They are now listed as an endangered species in Michigan and have been spotted on at least 82 occasions since 2008. That number doesn’t necessarily mean there are 82 cougars in Michigan.
The DNR said a single animal may be included in more than one confirmed report. Officials said the increase in the use of trail cameras by the public could contribute to the increased number of cougar reports.
WB I-94 near Greenfield down to one lane due to crash, fuel spill
Westbound I-94 near Greenfield is down to one lane Monday morning due to a crash that led to a fuel spill.
The crash was reported at around 2 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2024. The freeway shut down to only one lane, causing heavy traffic in the morning commute.
According to Michigan State Police, a driver of a tractor-trailer said he “dropped” the trailer’s third axle, causing him to lose control and run off the roadway. This caused the truck to jackknife in the ditch near Rouse River. The driver was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Did Dan Campbell cost Detroit Lions the game with early onside kick against Bills?
Dan Campbell took a lot of criticism for his decision to try an early onside kick against the Bills, but did he actually cost the Detroit Lions the game?
The Lions scored a touchdown with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter to cut the Bills' lead from 17 points to 10.
It was 38-28, and Campbell decided to take matters into his own hands.
A new NFL rule requires teams to declare an onside kick, so the Bills knew it was coming. Still, Jake Bates executed beautifully, and the ball took a perfect high hop on the second bounce toward the sideline.
