Police searching for suspects in assault near University of Michigan campus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Police in Ann Arbor are investigating an assault that happened on Sunday and are looking for the suspects.

The victim told police he saw three suspects stealing items, including a handgun, from his car in the 600 block of East William Street. When the victim tried to stop the theft and get the gun, it discharged, injuring him.

Police said the suspects left the area in a silver sport utility vehicle.

Ann Arbor police said it appears to be an isolated incident, and there’s no ongoing threat to the community.
