Macomb County man crashes car after trying to drive away from deputies

Alcohol believed to be a factor

Suspect rolls car over following police chase in Macomb County (Macomb County Sheriff's Office)

A man was sent to the hospital after a police chase led to him losing control of his car and rolling over.

Deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to a dispute between two neighbors in Harrison Township at around 3 a.m. on Dec. 18, 2024. One homeowner accused her neighbor, a 58-year-old man, of causing a disturbance.

Deputies previously met with the 58-year-old Harrison Township man and were aware of his outstanding felony warrants.

A deputy saw the man driving on Joy Boulevard in Harrison Township. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the man allegedly ignored the deputy and accelerated.

The man then lost control of his car, left the road and drove into a ditch. He regained control and got back on the road, traveling in the opposite direction. Deputies briefly lost sight of the man while turning around.

When deputies found the man again, they saw him lose control of his car. The car left the roadway and rolled over.

The Harrison Township man was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

The sheriff’s office believe alcohol was a factor.
