OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested for allegedly trying to meet with a 12-year-old girl in northern Oakland County.
The investigation began on Nov. 22, 2024, when officers in Holly responded to a business on Saginaw Street where an Indiana-based citizen-operated online predator group reported they had someone in the business who was a target of one of their investigations and were questioning him.

Police said the group had an adult decoy posing as a 12-year-old girl and met with Daniel James Kring, 35, of Holly Township, online.
Kring allegedly started the conversation and started having sexual conversations with the decoy, sending explicit pictures and videos of himself.
The online group told police Kring agreed to meet the decoy at a Holly business, where his alleged intent was to have sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl. The group drove from Indiana to the location to meet with him.
The online group gathered evidence and gave it to police at the scene. Holly officers detained Kring for questioning and took his phone.
Investigators found evidence that Kring was talking with the decoy, who was posing as a 12-year-old girl. Police said he allegedly intended to meet at the location in Holly, then go to another location to have sex with the 12-year-old.
He was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail. He faces charges of Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes and Computers-Internet-Communication with another to Commit a Crime.
Kring was arraigned on Dec. 3, 2024, and his bond was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2025, for a probable cause conference.
