MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A man was found unresponsive in Madison Heights on Christmas Eve, and police are investigating his death.
First responders found Robert Cavanaugh, 60, unresponsive on the ground near the 26000 block of Dequindre on Dec. 24, 2024, at around 7:30 p.m.

Officials said Cavanaugh suffered blunt force trauma and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers began an on-scene investigation due to suspicious circumstances. They then arrested a person they believe was responsible for Cavanaugh’s death.
The investigation is pending Cavanaugh’s cause and manner of death from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office. The case will be presented to the prosecutor’s office seeking charges relating to Cavanaugh’s death.
