OXFORD, Mich. – Three people were hospitalized following a shooting in Oakland County on the night of Christmas Eve, officials said.

Just after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a “major incident” that happened on Ray Road between Lapeer and N. Oxford Roads, near Oxford High School.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found three people with gunshot wounds.

They were all taken to hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

A suspect is in custody, and a gun was recovered, according to the sheriff’s office.

People were asked to avoid the area while authorities were processing the scene.

Authorities also said they did not believe there was any further danger to the community.

If you saw a heavy police presence at the nearby Meijer store, authorities say the shooting did not happen there, and it was just the staging area for first responders.
