Man allegedly involved in deadly shooting on Detroit’s east side arrested, charged

DETROIT – The man accused of shooting and killing a man, then leaving the scene in Detroit’s east side, has been arrested and charged, according to the prosecutor’s office.

On Dec. 23, 2024, at around 8:40 p.m., officers found Tommy Ireland dead with a gunshot wound in the 9200 block of Kercheval Avenue.

Police said the suspect, 35-year-old Craig Michael Bergeron of Saline, allegedly shot Ireland with a rifle, then left the area in his SUV.

Bergeron was found and arrested on Christmas Eve.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Bergeron with First Degree Murder, two counts of Felony Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

He is expected to be arraigned in court on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.
