Livonia woman killed, 3 others hurt in head-on crash in Oakland County

19-year-old driver airlifted to hospital after crashing into Jeep

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 66-year-old woman died and three other people were injured in a head-on crash in Oakland County, officials said.

The crash happened at 1:53 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, on Rochester Road near Beach Drive in Oakland Township.

A 19-year-old Oakland Township man was driving a 2011 Ford Edge southbound on Rochester Road when his car crossed the center line and hit a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling northbound, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Jeep, a 62-year-old Clarkston man, and his wife, also 62, were taken to a local hospital.

Authorities say the man is in stable condition, and his wife is in critical condition.

A 66-year-old Livonia woman, who was a backseat passenger of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver of the Ford was airlifted to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Authorities say it is unknown why his vehicle crossed the center line, but alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.

The occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
