OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman died and three other people were hurt in an Oakland County crash, officials said.
The head-on crash happened at 1:53 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, on Rochester Road near Beach Drive in Oakland Township.
An Oakland Township man, 19, was heading southbound on Rochester Road in a 2011 Ford Edge when he crossed the center line and struck a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling in the northbound lanes, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver of the Jeep, a 62-year-old Clarkston man, was taken to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition. His wife, also 62, was a passenger in the vehicle. She was also taken to the hospital, where she is in critical condition.
A 66-year-old Livonia woman, who was a backseat passenger of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teen driver who struck the Jeep was airlifted to a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Authorities say it is unknown why the 19-year-old’s vehicle crossed the center line, but alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.
The occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The crash is under investigation.
