During the holiday season, the Ferndale Police Department received reports at three Metro Detroit businesses in the downtown area.

- 359 Fit Gym, 918 West 9 Mile Road, on Dec. 27, 2024, at 10 p.m.
- Red Olive Restaurant, 750 West 9 Mile Road, on Jan. 1, 2025, at 12 a.m.
- Dairy Queen, 941 West 9 Mile Road, between the evening of Dec. 31, 2024, and the morning of Jan. 1, 2025
The cases were assigned to the Downtown Resource Officer, who analyzed surveillance footage and distributed photographs of the man involved to the patrol division.
Surveillance footage showed the man throwing rocks at the glass windows of the businesses.
On the morning of Jan. 3, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a member of the Ferndale Police Department observed an individual matching the description of the man walking eastbound on 9 Mile Road near Paxton.
Officers approached the individual, confirmed he was seen in the security footage, and identified him as Christopher Williams, 54, of Ferndale.
Williams was taken into custody without incident and charged with malicious destruction of property, a misdemeanor.
Marks was arraigned on Jan. 3, 2025, by 43rd District Court Magistrate Brennan.
He was issued a $1,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2025, at 1 p.m.
