DETROIT – Stakes are high ahead of the showdown between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field
While players prepare to take the NFC North crown and No. 1 seed spot, retailers are trying to keep merchandise on the shelves.
At the Gameday Detroit location on E. Adams St., the retailer is preparing for big sales.
It’s not just the black jerseys in demand, but whatever Lions fans can get their hands on.
“It’s been nice because everybody is so happy and everybody’s spirits are so high,” said manager Katie Draper. “You get stories from fans who’ve been around for years and years -- decades and now this is their time.”
Given the pressure of Sunday’s game, fans traveled from all over the U.S. to support both teams. In some cases, the Lions-Vikings rivalry game is putting friendships and relationships at odds with one another.
”The Lions and Vikings -- is a really big game and we know the Lions are going to win,” said Helene Weir, who traveled from Arizona.
If you ask her friend, she’ll say otherwise, who traveled from South Dakota.
The matchup is even dividing couples like an Arkansas pair who drove roughly 13 hours to be inside Ford Field.
“One of us leaves upset,” Angela Johnson said.
One of us leaves very mad, Jordan Garden agreed.
