OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – During the Detroit Lions' playoff run, Oakland County deputies can sport Honolulu Blue and Silver as part of their uniforms.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard issued an order on Monday, Jan. 6, authorizing personnel to wear officially licensed Lions caps or beanies as part of their uniforms “to promote camaraderie and community spirit while maintaining the professionalism of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office,” according to a release.

“I believe that our team and the Detroit Lions have a lot in common,” Bouchard said. “Both are a group of highly motivated people with grit, determination and a huge heart who perform at the highest level. Both have faced huge challenges in their respective professions and yet, pulled together and go out every day ready to take on all challenges. We are inspired and support the Lions and to show that connectivity, I am authorizing our personnel to wear a Lions hat in their official duty capacity.”

The sheriff’s office personnel can wear Detroit Lions hats from 3 p.m. on Jan. 6 through the team’s playoff run.

This comes after the Lions beat the Vikings 31-9 on Sunday night, securing the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
