FRANKENMUTH, Mich. – A missing Michigan man who was last seen during a family gathering in Frankenmuth has been found dead, police said.
Robert Loren Bacon, 52, of Byron, was reported missing to Frankenmuth police on Dec. 30, 2024.
He was last seen at a family get-together at the Bavarian Inn Lodge on Dec. 27.
After five days of extensively searching for Bacon, dive teams found his body in the Cass River near Heritage Park at about 2 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2025.
Authorities say his preliminary cause of death is drowning. The incident remains under investigation.
“The Frankenmuth Police Department, the Frankenmuth Community, First Responders, and the Bavarian Inn Lodge extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Bacon during this difficult time,” Frankenmuth police said. “The FPD appreciates all those who assisted in the investigation. This update is made available after allowing the family time to make proper notifications.”
