MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The ex-boyfriend of missing Macomb County woman Ashley Elkins is accused of lying to a police officer in connection to her disappearance.
Deandre Howard Booker, 32, was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 9, on the charge of lying to a peace officer, a 4-year felony, in connection to the disappearance of the 30-year-old Macomb County mother. He allegedly lied to officers and provided false and misleading information to them from Jan. 4, 2025, through Jan. 7, 2025.
He was given a $250,000 cash/surety bond and if released he must wear a steel cuff tether with GPS.

During his arraignment, assistant prosecuting attorney Steve Fox discussed how Elkins has not been found, and they believe Booker may know where she is.
He also discussed Booker’s history of larceny and desertion during his time with the U.S. Army, and how he was taken into custody in Flint.
Booker allegedly fled Macomb County and went to Flint, where he was apprehended before he was brought back to Roseville.
His search history revealed that while in Flint, he was looking up information on the fastest routes from Flint to Ohio, what to do on the run, if blood is traceable, how to beat a polygraph and deleting Google search history.
His probable cause conference was set for Jan. 22 and his preliminary examination was scheduled for Jan. 29.
“Our hearts go out to the family of the missing woman during this difficult time,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Providing false information to law enforcement in a case like this not only hinders the investigation but adds further pain and uncertainty for the loved ones searching for answers. We remain committed to seeking justice and ensuring that every effort is made to bring resolution to this case.”
