DETROIT โ The Detroit Auto Show is back in January.
โThe next two weeks are going to be incredible for this great city. We got the number 1 seeded Detroit Lions and an auto show that is coming back full throttle to the month of January,โ 2025 Detroit Auto Show Chairman Karl Zimmermann said.
For Reaya Richardson, having the auto show in the fall wasnโt a good fit.
โIt was kind of hard to maneuver like I wanted to do this in the fall, but then there is also the auto show. I donโt know. Letโs go to the other thing. We will try to make it to another (auto show),โ said Richardson.
She signed up to be a panel judge this year.
Richardson brought her son, Dexter Watts, to take a tour before the doors opened to the public on Saturday (Jan. 11).
โThe auto show is really cool,โ Watts said.
This yearโs show features 500 vehicles and interactive activities, such as the Camp Jeep activation, allowing attendees to hit the off-roading trail.
The North American Car, Truck & Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards were presented.
The Honda Civic Hybrid won Car of the Year. The Ford Ranger was named Truck of the Year.
And the Volkswagen ID. Buzz took home the Utility Vehicle of the Year trophy.
โPeople are looking forward to this car coming back to North America since a very long time. So, we are now very happy that we found the right recipe to bring it back in a fully electric version,โ Volkswagen Group of America Senior Vice President Petar Danilovic said.
The auto show runs from Jan. 11-20 at Huntington Place.
