15-year-old boy arrested following Monroe County police chase

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody after a police chase in Monroe County.

According to authorities, it started in Monroe at about 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, when a lieutenant attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of Third and Monroe streets. The vehicle sped off and was spotted by a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy, who chased it onto northbound I-75.

The vehicle reportedly sped into Frenchtown Township before returning back to Monroe, where the driver was taken into custody after stopping at a home on Navarre Street.

Authorities lodged the driver, a 15-year-old boy, at the Monroe County Youth Center on charges of fleeing and eluding. A 13-year-old passenger in the vehicle was released to their family.

No injuries or damages to property were reported.
