ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police recovered a gun they believe is linked to a shooting at an Oakland County hotel last month.
On Jan. 14, troopers were on patrol on 8 Mile Road in Royal Oak Township when they saw a Dodge Durango that matched the description of a wanted vehicle.
When the troopers checked the car’s registered owner, they discovered that he had a felony warrant for his arrest.
The driver parked the car at a hotel. He and the passenger got out and entered separate hotel rooms, according to state police.
Authorities then arrested the driver, who was identified as a 37-year-old Dearborn man.
Search warrants were executed in the driver’s room, the vehicle and the passenger’s room.
During the searches, authorities recovered 23 bundles of narcotics, which included heroin and cocaine.
They also found a gun that they believe was used in a shooting at the hotel on Dec. 6, 2024.
“Great work by Metro North troopers taking this suspect into custody,” said Michigan State Lt. Mike Shaw. “As the result of this arrest and subsequent investigation a gun used in a previous shooting was taken off the street.”
