DETROIT – The Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center will remain closed on Wednesday due to the continued forecast of extremely cold temperatures across Metro Detroit.

The closure has been implemented to provide guests and animals who call the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center home.

Essential team members, including animal care staff, will remain on-site to ensure the animals receive the exceptional care they need.

The Detroit Zoological Society leadership team will closely monitor the latest weather forecasts and will reopen for regular daytime hours once it is determined that reopening can be done safely.

Once it is determined that reopening can be done safely, the society will reopen for regular daytime hours.

Guests who pre-purchased tickets for Jan. 21 or 22 will have their tickets honored for daytime zoo admissions on any future visit. However, refunds will not be issued if guests decide not to visit later.
