Man arrested after firing gunshots outside federal building in downtown Detroit

DETROIT – A man has been arrested after he fired gunshots in front of the Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building in downtown Detroit.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (Jan. 21) at 2:40 p.m. when officials say the man pulled at 477 Michigan Avenue and fired gunshots.

Officials say he was detained by the Federal Protective Service and was placed in custody by the Detroit Police Department.

One weapon was recovered and officials say at this time, no damage was observed and no injuries have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing. as of 5 p.m.
