Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing case worker in Orion Township

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald charged Gul Nabi Rahmati, a 34-year-old resident of Dearborn Heights, with two felonies, including assault with intent to murder, for a stabbing attack on Zubair Mansuori in Orion Township.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald charged Gul Nabi Rahmati, a 34-year-old resident of Dearborn Heights, with two felonies, including assault with intent to murder, for a stabbing attack on Zubair Mansuori in Orion Township.

The incident occurred on Jan. 22 when Rahmati arrived at Mansuori’s home, and the two met outside.

Rahmati then allegedly stabbed Mansuori multiple times before attempting to attack another man who came to Mansuori’s aid.

Officials said he fled from the scene and then turned himself in to the Dearborn Heights Police Department later.

Mansuori is a caseworker for the non-profit Samaritas. Rahmati was one of his clients.

Rahmati is charged with assault with intent to murder, which is punishable by up to life in prison, and assault with a dangerous weapon, which is punishable by up to four years in prison.
