DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Alahondro Von Fitzpatrick, 31, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of his three-year-old son.
The incident occurred on Friday (Jan. 24) at approximately 12:25 p.m. when Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3300 block of Fullerton Avenue for the reported shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand.
Officers transported the child to a local hospital for treatment.
It is alleged that the child found an unsecured handgun in the home and fired it, striking himself in the hand.
Alahondro Von Fitzpatrick has been charged with:
- One count of firearms safe storage violations
- Premises under individual’s control
- Minor present and injured self or another,
- One count of felony firearm
Fitzpatrick was arraigned Monday (Jan. 27) afternoon in 36th District Court and given a $20,000 personal bond.
The probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 5 at 8:30 a.m., and the preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 8:45 a.m.
