DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Raymonte Darrell Adams, 19, of Detroit, in connection with the assault of an officer that led to a shooting on Dec. 14, 2024.
On Dec. 10, 2024, at approximately 11:41 p.m., in the 19300 block of St. Mary’s Street, Detroit police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the defendant’s vehicle.

During the traffic stop, as seen by body cam footage recently released, Adams drove toward the officers in an attempt to flee from the traffic stop.
Officers discharged their firearms, striking him multiple times. While fleeing the scene, Adams hit one of the officers with his vehicle.
A short time later, officers located Adams lying on the road in the 19400 block of Rutherford Street, suffering from gunshot wounds.
EMS arrived and transported the 19-year-old to a Metro Detroit hospital for treatment.
Adams has been charged with assault with Intent to murder, fleeing and eluding – third-degree, and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
He was arraigned on Dec. 14, 2024, in 36th District Court and given a $500,000 cash bond with a GPS tether.
At the bond re-determination hearing on Dec. 16, 2024, a judge reduced his bond to a $500,000 personal bond with house arrest.
At the preliminary examination on Jan. 15, 2025, Adams’ bond was increased to $250,000/10% with house arrest, and he was bound over as charged.
On Jan. 22, 2025, Adams was arraigned on the information in 3rd Circuit Court.
His next court date is on March 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
