Here’s where 850+ new housing units are being built in Michigan

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced support for projects that will create more than 850 new housing units across the state.

“We are supporting projects to build more than 850 units of housing across Michigan so we can keep expanding our housing supply and driving down costs for buyers and renters,” Whitmer said in a release. “These projects will create more than 700 good-paying jobs and drive more than $65 million of private investment into Pontiac, Lansing, and Detroit, making each city a better place to live. Our housing strategy of ‘build, baby, build’ will keep moving forward so we can help more Michiganders find an affordable place to live and have a great quality of life. Let’s keep getting it done.”

West Bloomfield woman charged with embezzling from vulnerable adult in scheme with co-defendant

Letzer’s co-defendant, Kirk Lanam, 52, of Hartland, was arraigned on charges stemming from the same alleged scheme last week.

Allegedly, Lanam and Letzer fraudulently obtained from the 87-year-old victim legal power of attorney in March of 2024, knowing the man to be a vulnerable or incapacitated adult with a court-appointed guardian, and that Lanam embezzled significant funds from the victim.

Weather: Windy Wednesday in Metro Detroit with some minor snow on the way

Starting off with incredibly mild temperatures for late January, but temperatures will continue to slide through sunrise before rebounding this afternoon to near average highs.

Some lake effect snow bands will push from north to south this morning. Accumulations will remain minor, but brief very low visibilities will be possible. High pressure will end that in the afternoon as dry conditions build in. We rise back into the mid-30s this afternoon before winds taper off briefly this evening.
