The robbery and homicide occurred on Thursday, (Feb. 6), at a home in the 18900 block of Sorrento Avenue, near the corner of 7 Mile Road and W Outer Drive, around 9 p.m.
The father, who wished to remain anonymous to avoid being targeted again, bravely recounted the ordeal.

A Wayne County man has been charged after he allegedly struck a woman while she was walking her dog and then drove away. The dog was killed in the crash.
Norman Newman, 38, of Taylor, was arraigned on the charges of abandoning/cruelty to one animal resulting in the animal’s death, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle while license suspended, revoked or denied. He was given a $1,000 personal bond.
The hit-and-run happened on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025. Police say a woman walked into the department’s lobby at about 7 p.m. to report it.
