Car crashes, flips into Oakland County apartment building

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Southfield man was taken to a hospital after his car crashed into an apartment complex in Oakland County Tuesday morning.

Ferndale Fire Chief Teresa Robinson said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 11, 2025, in the 1400 block of 9 Mile.

Police said the driver was traveling west on 9 Mile when the car crossed into the eastbound lane. The car then left the roadway near the intersection of 9 Mile and Forest Street, traveled across the boulevard and struck an apartment building.

Robinson said the 38-year-old man was the only person inside the car and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Robinson, there were no other injuries, and the car crashed into a stairwell, so no apartment units were initially affected by the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
