Snow coming to Metro Detroit this week -- Here’s how much to expect

A Winter Storm Watch for heavy snow is in effect for all of Southeast Michigan from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.

Snowfall totals of 4 to 7 inches will be possible with light icing possible south of I-94, especially for Monroe County. We will keep fine-tuning as a 40 mile shift in the Low Pressure will make a huge difference in precipitation type for our southern communities.

This Michigan tax credit could lower your bill or boost your refund

It’s tax season, which means Michigan residents will be looking for all the ways to save or increase their refund.

Working families and individuals with low to moderate income may be able to receive Michigan’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), according to the Michigan Department of Treasury.

The Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit for Working Families is a benefit for working families with income below a certain level. This credit can lead to increased refunds on taxes already paid or a refund if you do not owe tax.

Last tax year, more than 653,000 recipients received the Michigan EITC with an average credit of $836.

Pope Francis names sixth Archbishop of Detroit

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger as the sixth Archbishop of Detroit. He currently is Bishop of the Diocese of Tucson.

The new archbishop will be installed at a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m. on March 18. The archbishop-elect will lead an evening prayer at Sacred Heart Major Seminary on March 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Man arrested in Southfield fatal shooting, victim found in parking lot with gunshot wound to head

The Southfield Police Department arrested a 28-year-old man who was involved in the fatal shooting of a person who was found dead in a parking lot after being shot in the head.

Officials arrested the 28-year-old on Sunday.

The incident occurred at 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2025, in the 25000 block of Shiawassee Road after someone reported finding a person unresponsive in a parking lot.
