The legendary Detroit rock band was previously nominated but not inducted in 2023, which was the first year they were eligible.

The White Stripes were formed in Detroit in 1997 and released six albums over 10 years. Despite no longer living in the state, singer and frontman Jack White remains a staple of Detroit music.

This year, the Detroit duo has been nominated alongside other huge names -- including Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Outkast, Oasis, Cyndi Lauper and Soundgarden.

If inducted, The White Stripes will join 21 other Detroit artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, like Aretha Franklin, Eminem and Diana Ross.

The inductees will be announced in April after a voting period from music professionals and historians.
