Detroit police are investigating a deadly double shooting early Friday morning.

How to avoid romance scams this Valentine’s Day

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel reissued her consumer alert to help protect residents from falling victim to online romance scams this Valentine’s Day.

This type of scam takes advantage of people looking for partners on dating apps and social media.

The scammers typically profess their love for the victims quickly and often tell them that they are working abroad or in the military, to justify why they cannot meet them in person, according to Nessel.

Weather: Valentine’s Day begins on a chilly note in Metro Detroit, what to know about weekend-long snowfall

Morning temperatures will slowly rise after starting off in the single digits and the teens in Southeast Michigan. Wind chills will be subzero and in the single digits for much of the morning.

Morning skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with a few flurries.

Temperatures will peak in the lower 20s on Friday afternoon, but the wind chill will be around 10 to 12 degrees.
