Water main break flooding streets, homes in Southwest Detroit neighborhood

DETROIT – Residents in a Southwest Detroit neighborhood are waking up to a water main break early Monday morning.

The water main break is flooding streets and homes near Green and Lexington streets.

Local 4 learned from police at the scene that they received reports of a water main break at around 2 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2025, and about four blocks in the neighborhood have been flooded.

Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) said there was a break on a 54-inch water transmission main in the area of Beard and Rowan early Monday morning.

GLWA crews are on-site working to isolate the main break.
