SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 30-year-old from River Rouge was arrested after allegedly driving away from police Friday morning.

Southfield police said officers saw a 2024 Kia Sorrento on Feb. 21, 2025, just before 10 a.m., that they believed was used in a crime out of Detroit.

The car was entered into a law enforcement database by the Detroit Police Department on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025.

Southfield police tried to initiate a traffic stop with the car in the area of 9 Mile and Southfield roads, but the driver allegedly disregarded the officers and drove away.

The police chase continued onto the Lodge Freeway from Evergreen Road. Once on the freeway, the Southfield Police Department said an officer “made intentional contact” with the car, ending the pursuit near the entry ramp to Southfield Freeway.

There were three people in the car. The driver, a 30-year-old River Rouge resident, was arrested for fleeing and eluding. The other people in the car, a Southfield and a Detroit resident, were treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
