3 alleged members of auto theft ring to stand trial in Wayne County

Three alleged members of a criminal organization responsible for the thefts of hundreds of vehicles in southeast Michigan were bound over to stand trial in the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County in the 19th District Court in Dearborn.

  • Donovan Tucker, 21, of Detroit, was bound over on one count of conducting a criminal enterprise, a 20-year felony, and two counts of receiving & concealing stolen property - motor vehicle, a five-year felony.
  • Davion Tucker, 21, of Detroit, was convicted on one count of conducting a criminal enterprise and four counts of receiving and concealing stolen property, including a motor vehicle.
  • Davonta Jones, 31, of Detroit, was convicted on one count of conducting a criminal enterprise and three counts of receiving and concealing stolen property, including a motor vehicle.

Police said the alleged criminal ring targets new vehicle storage lots, car dealerships, parking lots, and individual residences.

Officials alleged stolen vehicles are sold significantly below market value on the black market to buyers seeking unregistered cars.

Stolen vehicles have been linked to other criminal activity.

The alleged group is suspected of using countersurveillance to steal vehicles quickly and efficiently, allegedly using violence and ramming security vehicles if confronted.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel charged the defendants in January.

Officials said a fourth defendant, Timothy Bell, 23, of Detroit, was previously bound over on one count of conducting a criminal enterprise and two counts of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle.

Donovan Tucker, Davion Tucker, and Davonta Jones will next appear in the 3rd Circuit Court on March 6 at 9 am.
