HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – The Michigan Department of State has shut down another driving school in Hamtramck due to multiple alleged violations.
Operations at Conant Driving School LLC. at 10323 Conant Street in Hamtramck have been suspended for allegedly violating the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act (DEPIA).
An investigation showed the driving school didn’t use the prescribed curriculum and failed to do the following:
- Maintain a record of the instruction given
- Obtain a copy of a signed contract
- Maintain a safe classroom facility at this location
The school also allegedly gave students certificates of completion without having them complete 24 hours of required classroom instruction.
Additional violations are being investigated.
Anyone impacted by the suspension is urged to contact the MDOS Driver Education Unit at DriverEd@Michigan.gov or 517-241-6850 for more information.
This is the second driving school in Hamtramck to be suspended this month.
On March 7, the operations of Al Baraka Driving School at 11405 Conant Street were also suspended for failing to maintain records. The state is also investigating additional violations at this driving school.
