Michigan man arrested after failing to kick in door and running into woods

BAGLEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 35-year-old man from Gaylord is facing attempted home invasion charges after failing to break into an Otsego County home.

According to authorities, police responded to a home on reports of a personal protection order violation in the early morning of March 15. Police said James Dash reportedly drove to the home, knocked on the door and when no one answered, he attempted to kick the door open before running into the woods.

Police said they followed prints in the snow to find Dash hiding behind a tree. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Dash was charged March 17 with third-degree attempted home invasion, malicious destruction and assaulting an officer.

He was given a $25,000 bond.
