DEARBORN, Mich. – Several ice cream shops in the Dearborn area are offering deals on viral Dubai strawberry cups after a man’s video about how much money he spent on purchasing them went viral.
Early in 2024, videos about Dubai chocolate went viral on TikTok. The popular chocolate bar was created by Sarah Hamouda, the founder of Dubai’s Fix Dessert Chocolatier, in 2021.
It features a milk chocolate exterior filled with pistachio cream and kataifi, which is shredded phyllo dough.
Last year, strawberry cups inspired by the bar became popular, and they still are.
This week, a local man posted a video that gained traction on Instagram about how he spent $66 on three strawberry Dubai cups.
Now, several spots in the Dearborn area are letting customers know that they can get their versions of the popular treat for lower prices.
La Gelati, which has two locations in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, and Canton, is offering the strawberry cups for $13.50.

Another spot, The Custard Co., said they were offering the popular dessert for $8.99 for the rest of the month.
Then, Tasty Delights, in Dearborn Heights, announced on social media they would be giving away free strawberry Dubai chocolate cups for free on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 p.m. to midnight throughout Ramadan.
On Monday night, this reportedly drew in a crowd, with several waiting in line to get the free dessert.
Other spots across Metro Detroit, like Choco Mania Cafe, which has locations in Birmingham and Sterling Heights, are also taking part in the trend and have been offering spins on the viral treat, giving residents plenty of opportunities to try it.
