DETROIT – Hiroki-San, the Japanese restaurant located in the basement of the Book Tower, is now offering tableside omakase.
Omakase is a dining experience that originated in Japan where the chef selects your meal, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The word omakase directly translates to “I leave it up to you.”
This dining experience includes a 12-course meal with 20 unique bites, according to a release.
There will also be an optional sake pairing, which will feature a variety of premium, limited sakes. The restaurant will highlight breweries that have existed for hundreds of years, along with rising stars in the sake industry.
The pairing includes four to five pours that are 2 to 4 ounces each.

“The omakase experience at HIROKI-SAN is an exploration of both tradition and innovation, offering a chance to savor the artistry and meticulous craftsmanship that define Japanese cuisine, through the mind of Christian Vasquez, our Chef de Cuisine,” said Scott Sadoff, executive vice president of food & beverage for the Method Co. group. “Every dish tells a story, each ingredient carefully chosen for its seasonality and quality. This new experience will complement our existing menu by adding a more intimate, personalized touch, allowing us to surprise and delight our guests with dishes that evolve in real-time. Ultimately, I hope customers leave with a deeper appreciation for the beauty of simplicity and the unexpected joy of discovery in every bite.”

The experience is $185 per person, with the sake pairing being an additional $65 per person.
It is available for guests from Tuesdays through Thursdays. Reservations can be made online.
