OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Here’s everything we’ve learned after one person was injured and a suspect was arrested following a shooting at the Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital.
The shooting happened just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in a hospital parking garage.
An employee allegedly fired five shots at another employee, striking him twice in the arm.
The victim, identified as a 25-year-old Troy man, was treated for his injuries at the hospital. He is expected to be OK.
The suspect was arrested at a home in Macomb County shortly after the shooting occurred.
Multiple people close to those involved said the two employees were “best friends” who worked in the radiology department together.
Hospital worker shares experience
An employee at the hospital spoke to Local 4 early Thursday morning and described what she experienced.
The medical assistant said as she was arriving at work when a coworker screamed at her to get back into her car because there was an active shooter.
Troy police give initial briefing
During the initial briefing, Troy police gave details about the shooting and revealed that it had happened between two employees.
At the time of this briefing, the suspect hadn’t been arrested yet.
2 people taken into custody
The suspect was arrested at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, at a home in Macomb Township.
The victim was able to tell police who shot him, which led to his arrest.
Another person was also seen taken into custody. Police said a few people were living in the home the suspect was in, and they were being interviewed.
Neighbors share what they saw during the arrest
Two people who live in the area where the arrest happened shared what they saw, from seeing patrol cars and SWAT arrive in the neighborhood, to the arrest.

Troy police: Employees ‘recently had a falling out’
The Troy Police Department held another press conference at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, to provide an update on the investigation after the arrest.
During this presser, they revealed that the two employees were friends who “recently had a falling out.”
Police said they will release more information once the suspect is arraigned, which is expected to happen over the weekend.
