PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY, Mich. – A 15-year-old and their parents have been charged in the death of an 87-year-old man who died after being struck by a child on a dirt bike.
He was hit by the dirtbike on March 1 in Presque Isle County. According to authorities, the 87-year-old man was crossing County Road 451 with a flashlight to check his mail. When he got to the mailbox on the shoulder of the road, he was reportedly hit by a teen on a motorized dirtbike that was speeding down the road without a headlight.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, where he died days later on March 5.
The driver of the dirt bike was not injured.
The Presque Isle County Prosecutor reviewed the police reports and authorized an arrest warrant for the 15-year-old.
The child was charged with manslaughter, manslaughter with a motor vehicle, reckless driving causing death, moving violation causing death and reckless driving.
The parents were charged with parent allowing a child under 16 to operate an off-road vehicle.
The mother was given a $2,000 bond and the father was given a $3,500 bond. The are expected to return to court April 1.
