TROY, Mich. – The family of the victim in the Troy Corewell shooting said the shooter made offensive comments to the body of the victim’s father at his funeral.

Robert Paljusevic, 21, was arraigned over the weekend on charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. He is accused of shooting a coworker in the parking garage of Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital in Troy on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

The 25-year-old Troy man was treated for injuries to his arm. He is expected to be OK.

During the arraignment, a detective with the Troy Police Department detailed a falling out between Paljusevic and the 25-year-old, who had previously been friends.

Apparently, the victim’s family had a private viewing when his father died in January. Paljusevic was upset that he didn’t get invited to the private viewing, according to police.

The victim’s mother told investigators that Paljusevic went to the public viewing for the victim’s father. Paljusevic went up to the father’s body and said, “Your ------- son would not invite me to meet you,” according to the victim’s mother.

After the funeral, Paljusevic had a FaceTime call with the 25-year-old and urinated on funeral brochures, saying, “If I do see you outside in public, don’t be surprised if something happens,” according to the detective.

The victim’s mother told detectives that Paljusevic was “highly possessive” of the victim. The detective said Paljusevic’s family admitted he has a “short fuse” and “would often argue with people.”

Paljusevic pled not guilty and requested a court-appointed attorney. Bond was denied, and Paljusevic was remanded to the Oakland County Jail.

The next court date is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 31, 2025.
