ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. – Authorities are investigating after one person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in St. Clair County, officials said.
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, deputies responded to Hessen Road in Columbus Township after receiving a report of a crash.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound on Hessen Road when they lost control and went off the roadway.
The car then overturned, before coming to a rest in a farm field, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name isn’t being released at this time as their family is still being notified.
Hessen Road was shut down for several hours while authorities were investigating.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation is ongoing.
