DETROIT – A man was sentenced for a random shooting near Grand Circus Park in July 2024.
Christopher Wade pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm in November 2024. It’s the third time he’s pled guilty in a felony case.

Wade was sentenced Friday, March 28, to 25 months in federal prison.
Shots fired in Detroit
According to authorities, Wade got into an argument and indiscriminately opened fire at the busy intersection of Woodward and Adams avenues on July 23, 2024. No one was injured, but a witness’ vehicle was struck.
Officers responding to the scene took Wade into custody. Police said a handgun was found in his backpack that had an empty magazine. Wade did not have a concealed pistol license and reportedly said he knew he wasn’t allowed to possess a gun.
It was the second time within a month Wade opened fire in public and the fourth time in 10 years.
Prior pleas:
Wade pleaded guilty Dec. 16, 2019, to felony discharge of a firearm in or at a building and carrying a concealed weapon. He was sentenced to three years of probation.
He pleaded guilty on March 19, 2021, to felony possession of burglary tools and got three more years of probation.
