McDonald reportedly lured the girl into his car, where he attempted to sexually assault her. After driving her to a house in Detroit, court documents claim he choked her when she refused to take her clothes off before torturing and raping her.

The young girl escaped the house after he fell asleep. She was only wearing a blanket.

McDonald had a previous conviction for sexual violence against a minor and was out on parole at the time of the 2021 assault. He was arrested days later and was charged with one count of kidnapping, three counts of sexual conduct with a minor, one count of strangulation and one count of torture. He was denied bond.

On Friday, March 28, 2025, McDonald pled no contest to all charges. He faces the possibility of being sentenced to life in prison.

His sentencing has been scheduled for May 2.
