$33M construction season begins in Farmington Hills. Here’s a list of road projects to expect

Halsted Road reconstruction is largest project on list

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The city of Farmington Hills kicked off a $33 million construction season and announced several projects that will improve major and local roads and water mains.

The infrastructure projects are largely funded by the road millage. Here’s how the money is being allocated:

  • Major roads: $12.9 million
  • Local roads: $14.1 million
  • Water mains: $6.6 million

Here are all the construction projects people can expect to see this spring and throughout the summer:

Halsted Road reconstruction

Among the projects scheduled to happen in Farmington Hills this year, the Halsted Road reconstruction plan is the largest project, city officials said.

Crews will replace pavement from West Eight Mile Road to south of West Nine Mile Road.

This project is expected to start in May and last until November.

A part of Halsted Road will be closed during the project, and traffic will be detoured to Haggerty Road.

Spring/Summer 2025 local road projects

Here’s what to expect during the local road projects that are scheduled to happen in Farmington Hills this year, according to the city:

  • Alycekay Street and High Meadow Road: Resurfacing on Alycekay Street from West Twelve Mile Road to High Meadow Road and High Meadow Road from Alycekay Street to just west of Summerwood Road.
  • Dukes Forest Brook Subdivision and Pebblecreek Estates Subdivision: Resurfacing of the entire subdivision.
  • Edgehill Avenue: Replacement of asphalt pavement west of Middlebelt Road.
  • Elmhurst Avenue: Replacement of existing asphalt pavement north of West Ten Mile Road.
  • Farm Meadows and Camelot Court: Phase one of concrete pavement replacement for the entire Farm Meadows subdivision, as well as the west half of the Camelot Court subdivision to just east of the Medwid Drive and Arden Park Circle intersection.
  • Gramercy Court: Replacement of concrete pavement west of Middlebelt Road.
  • Kendallwood Subdivision #2 and #4: Watermain replacement through the entire Kendallwood subdivision #2 and #4 and New Market Road area.
  • North Industrial Drive: Reconstruction of entire asphalt pavement and road base north of Grand River Avenue.
  • Oakwood Knolls Subdivision: Resurfacing throughout the Oakwood Knolls subdivision.
  • Shady Ridge Drive: Conversion of gravel road to pavement surface west of Power Road.
  • Sinacola Court: Replacement of concrete pavement north of Grand River Avenue.
  • Woodcreek Hills Subdivision: Reconstruction of entire asphalt pavement and road base through the entire Woodcreek Hills subdivision, including large culvert replacement for underground drainage.

Road projects under Oakland County’s jurisdiction

There will also be projects led by the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), including:

  • Haggerty Road: A large culvert replacement for underground drainage, north of West Thirteen Mile Road.
  • Orchard Lake Road: Resurfacing from I-696 to West Thirteen Mile Road.
  • West Twelve Mile Road: Resurfacing from Autumn Ridge to Inkster Road.
