OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – The dog dock at Orion Oaks Dog Park closed permanently due to consistently high levels of E coli found in the water.

According to Oakland County’s website, bi-weekly testing of the water near the dock in 2024 had high levels of E. coli, which exceeded safety thresholds that are unsafe for dogs and their owners.

County officials plan on looking at potential improvements during the Orion Oaks Dog Park master planning efforts for 2026, including a water feature and other enhancements.

Residents can share their thoughts about features they want to see at the dog park by taking the Orion Oaks Dog Park Survey.
