ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. – A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in St. Clair County Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The crash happened at 4 p.m. on April 9 at the intersection of Shea and Starville roads in Cottrellville Township, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the area after receiving reports that a vehicle had rolled over, with someone trapped inside.

The initial investigation revealed that Joseph Richard Quesnell, 52, of Clay Township, was heading southbound on Starville Road in a 2024 Ford Ranger.

Video footage showed that Quesnell stopped and then, as he moved through the intersection, his vehicle was hit by a 2019 Ram pickup truck heading westbound, according to the sheriff’s office.

Quesnell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the driver of the Ram, identified as a 25-year-old Clay Township man, is cooperating with the investigation.

Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not believed to be factors in the crash at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
