BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A 30-year-old man from Grand Rapids was arrested early Friday morning after reportedly driving a speeding minivan inside a Battle Creek home.

According to authorities, police received a 911 call just before the crash, reporting a speeding minivan that was ignoring stop signs and red lights.

A 70-year-old woman who lived in the home was uninjured, but police said she was trapped upstairs due to the minivan that ended up in her living room. She was rescued through a window by firefighters.

The driver of the minivan was taken into custody for operating while impaired. An uninjured dog was reportedly found inside his vehicle and was taken to a shelter.

The driver remains lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
