DETROIT – A Detroit man is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed a 68-year-old last week.

Enajee Iakiem Moore, 26, was charged with second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death, and first-degree fleeing, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Detroit officers were in the area of Puritan Avenue and Coyle Street when they saw that Moore’s vehicle had improper plates. When they tried to conduct a traffic stop, Moore allegedly fled at a high speed.

The officers pursued Moore to the intersection of Puritan Avenue and Murray Hill Street, where Moore allegedly crashed into the driver’s side of 68-year-old Thurston Alexander’s vehicle.

Alexander, also of Detroit, was ejected from his car and killed in the crash.

After crashing into Alexander’s car, Moore allegedly ran away from the scene, but was arrested after a brief chase.

Moore was arraigned and remanded to jail on Monday, April 14.

His probable cause conference is scheduled for April 24, and his preliminary examination is scheduled for May 1.
