BRIGHTON, Mich. – Several teens were arrested Wednesday after a high-speed chase through Brighton ended in a crash in Lansing.
According to authorities, it began when deputies tried to stop a BMW stolen out of Calhoun County that they found on eastbound I-96. The BMW reportedly sped off and left the freeway at the Grand Rive Avenue exit in Brighton.
Authorities said the BMW sped through Brighton and hit a sheriff’s vehicle before getting on westbound I-96 at Spencer Road in Brighton.
Dashboard camera captured the BMW driving recklessly down I-96 at a high speed, hitting multiple vehicles, passing on the shoulder and driving across patches of grass. Police said two stolen handguns were thrown from the windows during the chase.
Eventually, the stolen BMW exited I-96 at the Pennsylvania Avenue exit in Lansing, before driving down Cedar Street, where it hit several vehicles and came to a stop near Joy Road. Two people ran from the BMW.

Yussuf Abdikadir, a 19-year-old from Lansing, was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and resisting and obstructing police.
Kaku Daus, an 18-year-old from Lansing, was taken into custody for fleeing and eluding, receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, assault with a motor vehicle, resisting and obstructing police and three counts of felony firearm.
Both teens received a $250,000 bond.
Three juveniles inside the stolen vehicle were released to their parents. They are facing possible resisting and obstructing charges.
Two other people involved remain at large.
