Some new technology is making it possible to explore the fascinating shipwrecks of Lake Huron without having to brave the frigid waters. The Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is recreating 3D models of these shipwrecks and sharing them online with the public.
Maritime archaeologist Andi Yoxsimer discussed the scanning process, the importance of public knowledge sharing, the locations and historical significance of these shipwrecks and more.
