Former WDIV anchor Guy Gordon says he’s leaving WJR amid salary cuts at the longtime Detroit news radio station.
Gordon, who anchored newscasts at WDIV from 2004 through 2016 before leaving to WJR, confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Tuesday, saying he would have taken a pay cut to stay, but didn’t want to leave the morning shift.

“So, I’m going to do something very unusual for now: NOTHING. I’m going to rest my brain, enjoy my family and see what interesting adventures might come my way. If you’re a viewer or listener--thanks for your attention for all these years,” Guy said in the post.
“I can say I was there for the golden age of TV News. And enjoyed waking up Detroit in morning radio. I’ve worked with some of the greatest journalists and broadcast professionals ever to ply their trade. There is no disappointment, only gratitude. This life on the air has exceeded my wildest expectations. Bless you all and thank you.”
Gordon has spent nearly five decades in Detroit media, working as an anchor at WXYZ before joining WDIV, winning multiple Emmy Awards and numerous Michigan Association of Broadcasters awards for breaking news and investigative reporting.
