BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. – Despite the weather whiplash, there’s no denying spring is in the air.
More than likely, your furry friend is feeling it too. Here are some tips on how to get your pets spring-ready.
Is your pet spring-ready?
At the Premier Pet Supply store in Beverly Hills, owner Mike Palmer shares essential items for pet owners.
“These Dirty Dog Doormats are fantastic. You can put it at a door wall. They come in sizes ranging from regular doormats to long runners that are three to five feet,” Palmer said.
The microfiber material is perfect for muddy paws.
If you’re out on a walk or run, consider a hands-free leash.
“It’s got neoprene around the waist, and it can be adjusted. At the end, it has a little bungee that absorbs the shock from a dog going in different directions,” Palmer explained.
Don’t forget grooming
Your furry friend also needs to put their best paw forward.
Glenn Gosine, owner of Peticured, emphasizes the importance of nail maintenance.
“You want to avoid the nail tip from touching the ground when dogs are standing on a hard surface in a relaxed posture,” Gosine said.
Regular nail trimming is crucial not just for appearance but also for mobility, posture, and balance.
For indoor cats, untrimmed claws can grow inward.
Flea and tick prevention
If you plan to spend some time in the woods, flea and tick prevention is a must.
Palmer recommends Wondercide, a natural spray that can be used daily.
The spray uses natural essential oils to kill, repel, and prevent fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes, he said.
For those occasionally rainy days, consider getting your pup some dog boots, which are also perfect for walking on hot sidewalks.
